HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY

1.0 Introduction

Phenomenal fireworks Recognises and accepts its responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1964. Phenomenal Fireworks ranks Health and Safety equally with production etc. Mr Andy Slinn of Phenomenal fireworks is responsible for the conduct of the business of the Company.

2.0 Policy

It is the policy of Phenomenal fireworks to comply with all relevant statutory provisions and take any additional measures it considers necessary. To achieve this the company will:

(a) Manage its activities to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of its employees.

(b) Conduct its business in such a way as to ensure that, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety of others who may be affected are not put at risk.

(c) Provide and maintain plant and systems of work that are, so far as is reasonably practicable, safe and without risk to health.

(d) Make arrangements for ensuring, so far as is reasonably practicable, safety and absence of risks to health in connection with the use, handling, storage and transport of articles and substances.

(e) Provide necessary and appropriate education, training and information to ensure that staff are competent to undertake their responsibilities in support of this policy and to regularly assess the performance of staff.

(f) So far as is reasonably practicable as regards any place of work under the employer's control, maintain it in a condition that is safe and without risks to health and the provision and maintenance of means of access to and egress from it that are safe and without such risks.

(g) Provide and maintain a working environment for its employees that is, so far as reasonably practicable, safe, without risks to health, and adequate as regards facilities and arrangements for their welfare at work.

(h) Seek specialist advice as and when necessary.

(i) Monitor compliance by auditing and inspection.

(j) Review the policy annually or sooner if appropriate. Any review will be carried out by Mr Andy Slinn.

3.0 Organisation

3.1 The organisation of Phenomenal fireworks is shown below.

3.2 The Managing Director, Mr Andy Slinn has overall responsibility for implementing this policy and all health and safety matters within Phenomenal fireworks.

3.3 Each Head pyrotechnician is responsible for implementing the Health and Safety Policy within their respective are, as for responsibility. Each will define:

(a) Clear responsibilities, including appropriate supervisory arrangements for health and safety.

(b) Appropriate systems, procedures and standards to be adopted.

(c) Suitable reporting, monitoring and auditing procedures to ensure compliance with this policy.

3.4 The Company Health & Safety Officer is responsible for the following:

(a) Maintaining awareness of all legislation, codes of practice and regulations.

(b) Promoting and advising on the practices and standards to be adopted in health and safety matters.

(c) Maintaining an awareness of health and safety performance throughout the organisation.

3.4,1 Mr A Slinn is the Company Health & Safety Officer.

3.5 Every employee has a duty to work and act safely for his or her own welfare and that of others who may be affected by his or her actions. Every employee has a duty to co-operate with the Company in matters pertaining to health and safety. Failure by any employee to meet this duty may lead to disciplinary action.

4.0 Arrangements

4.1 In discharging their responsibilities, Head Pyrotechnicians will ensure that a clear framework of standards, procedures and systems exist and are used to deal with:

(a) The provision and maintenance of safe plant, equipment and systems of work together with the provision of safe working conditions and a healthy environment.

(b) Ensuring that changes and modifications to plant, equipment and product are fully considered and made in accordance with appropriate standards and procedures.

(c) Ensuring that new plant, equipment and product is fully assessed using hazard analysis and operability techniques and introduced in accordance with appropriate standards and codes of practice.

(d) Safety in use, handling, storage and transport of raw material, intermediates and products.

(e) The safe disposal of waste(s).

(f) Arranging to provide information to others on the use handling, storage and transport of products and disposal of waste.

(g) The provision of education, information, instruction and training (validated and recorded) to ensure the health and safety of employees.

(h) The provision, maintenance and testing of emergency procedures.

(i) The effective control of visitors and contractors.

This Policy and all documentation produced in support of the Policy will be controlled documentation.

4.2 A medical advisor to the company will provide support to the Company to ensure the health of all employees is not affected by work activities.
